Canyoning in the Lake District

Canyoning is an exciting journey down a steep mountain gorge that combines abseiling off waterfalls, sliding down natural rock features and big jumps into deep pools. Think of it as gorge scrambling on steroids – more rope work, steeper ground and big jumps into deep pools. Suitable for individuals, groups, stag and hen parties, and anyone looking for a more adventurous step up from ghyll scrambling. We have been running canyoning adventures in the Lake District for 14 years so you can guarantee you’re with the most experienced team of instructors possible.

We offer a range of canyoning experiences depending on how adventurous you want to go:

Church Beck, Coniston Just £66 - a great intro ½ day trip
Esk Gorge, Eskdale Only £110 for an amazing day of BIG jumps!
Extreme Canyoning A full-on day for £140 - the best canyon in the Lakes!
Langdale Canyon Adventure Winter adventures in Langdale!

Our canyoning experiences in the Lake District

We offer three different canyoning trips. Click the boxes for full details, pricing and images.

Canyoning in Church Beck, Coniston – A great introduction to canyoning, combining abseils, jumps and slides. Ideal as part of a multi-activity day.

Canyoning in Esk Gorge, Eskdale – A classic full-day canyon set in a more remote mountain environment, with deeper pools and bigger, more committing jumps.

Extreme Canyoning – Our most challenging canyoning route, with longer abseils, steeper waterfalls and a more committing feel from start to finish. This is UK canyoning at its very best.

All canyoning sessions are led by qualified instructors and include warm wetsuits, buoyancy aids, helmets and all the technical equipment needed. Each section is explained clearly, with options to take part at a level that suits you.

Canyoning works particularly well for groups of friends, stag and hen parties and corporate teams looking for something active, memorable and properly run.

We did Gyll Scrambling, brilliant activity to do while visiting the lakes Kids aged 9&10, they love the outdoors and are fearless so they got stuck straight in and we all had a brilliant afternoon together Highly recommend if looking for something a little different to do

My 10 year old son and I did the ghyll scramble at Coniston with Mark yesterday… what an amazing experience… we both loved it, great bonding time, we did climbing techniques, slid down waterfalls, jumped into plunge pools, floated around and scrambled… I chose to wear my waterproof Hokas with foam soles … they were amazing buoyancy aids :-) which made putting my feet down a little tricky… but I could float like an otter very easily! Excellent knowledge from mark and great encouragement throughout, we felt safe and challenged throughout!

We did the morning canyoning session with Scott who was absolutely brilliant - he was kind and reassuring, explained everything clearly, and didn’t drop us during the abseils which was an added bonus. We went into the activity not really knowing what to expect but it was one of the most exciting experiences we’ve had. Thanks for a great time!

Had a great day Ghyll Scrambling with my team from work. Si was a superb instructor; patient, calm and happy to get loads of photos/videos along the way. I would 100% recommend using the business for a well organised and fun day out.
