The 160ft abseil at Cathedral

Abseiling in the Lake District is great fun for groups and is also a really good way of tiring out the kids. It works really well as a half-day session, enabling you to create your perfect multi-activity day by marrying this activity up with half a day of rock climbingscramblinggorge scrambling (aka. ghyll scrambling) or canyoning.

Abseiling is also perfect for Hen and Stag parties and is brilliant as part of a team building day of Lake District activities for corporate clients.

A great idea is to ‘mix-and-match’ to make a full day of activities, with one in the morning and another in the afternoon. See all the options here.

Fitness isn't that important as abseiling is all downhill! There is however a scramble up some rocks to get back to the top. This takes about 5 minutes and is relatively steep.

You don't need any experience - we'll teach you how to abseil and support you all the way.

There are no weight limits.

Our safety kit will not fit someone with a waist that is larger than 150cm.

We will share a kit list with you when you book, but all you really need are warm and waterproof ‘outdoor’ clothes and footwear. We will provide all safety equipment such as harnesses and helmets.

If you have them (and if you think you're the type of person who is going to want to go fast!) bring a tough pair of gloves (gardening gloves work well).

We take loads of photos and we share them with you for free.

They start at either 9am or 1pm and last for 3 hours. For availability, click the blue 'Book Now / Check Availability' button above.
